Teaches Banjo and Mandolin. He learned banjo at age 20 and mandolin at age 23. He has participated in and led church worship teams. He has been teaching for about 8 years. His approach to teaching uses both written music and tablature. In addition to teaching a technical skill, he tries to give the student a broader appreciation for music in general. Available Monday-Wednesday and Friday and Saturday. $72.00 per month for ½ hour lesson once a week.

Teaches Violin - He has been teaching violin privately since 1995. He will be receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Kentucky in spring of 2008. He studied with Abraham Chavez Jr. in El Paso, TX for 7 years, and currently with Daniel Mason (Concertmaster of LPO). His aim is to create a well rounded student who will appreciate and learn the importance of music in his or her life. He will teach visually, physically, aurally, and emotionally to capture their attention at different levels of learning and create students with the ability to work together in any situation, whether artistically or subjectively. $40 for hour or $25 for ½ hour.

Teaches Trombone – He holds a music education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied voice and trombone. He has played in several organizations over the past few years, including the Newman Center Brass Ensemble and the annual 4 th of July Parade community band. He has also played in his church’s band for most of the past 8 years. Available Wednesday or Thursday after 7:00pm. $64 per month for a ½ hour lesson once a week.

Teaches Trumpet and Flugelhorn – He has 38 years of trumpet and musical instruction and performance experience in a wide array of environments from marching band, jazz band, R&B band, school and professional orchestra, studio music, brass ensemble, brass consort, school and community musicals, solo and ensemble competitions, and a myriad of solo and ensemble performance in various church settings. He has experience directing church choirs, leading worship bands, and tutoring young musicians (primarily brass). He loves to play, and play as often as he can. Available Tuesday Evening or Saturday Morning. $16.00 per ½ hour lesson.

Because of his love for music, he has explored almost every field of music there is. What he enjoys playing most is classical and worship music on guitar. He has been teaching for about 8 years. He especially enjoys teaching children. His approach to teaching involves written music, tablature, or both. He retired from a lucrative career of financial planning at the age of 50 with a goal to teach and repair guitars. He also plays in a bluegrass gospel group “2 nd Time Around” and lead a Contemporary Christian band for Hill-N-Dale Christian church. He specializes in beginners to advanced, acoustic and electric guitar. Musical styles include praise, bluegrass, country, and rock. Teaches guitar and bass. He is a self taught guitar player. He started at the age of 12 years old, and currently plays in the Boomerang Band. Bud has played professionally and taught guitar for many years. He has been with Willis for over 10 years. With his perfect pitched ear, he can teach his students to play just about any song that they want to learn from a CD or tape. His main expertise is country, classic rock, and the blues. He teaches scales, inversions, hammer-ons, pull offs, double stops, and a lot of string bending and with his hybrid picking style, along with the Nashville Number system. Teaches Bass - He began his musical career at age eight with piano lessons in hometown of Ashland, KY. At the age of 13, James bought his first electric bass and began to play with local musicians. From the ages 14 to 20, James played in many Ashland area bands as well as freelancing with various jazz groups. Ashland area bands that he played with include “The Red Rimms”, “Wynnfield”, and “TPS”. Currently he sits in with the Lexington group “A Portion for Reuben” and occasionally visits Charleston, WV and Portsmouth, OH to play with the groups “Person to Person” and “Gary Billups Jazz Group”. Besides his love for playing and writing music, he also enjoys hiking/camping and playing football, basketball, and softball. He won the Kentucky All-State Jazz Bassist in 2003 and has training at Paul G Blazer Jazz Band, Various High-school Jazz Clinics, and the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Camp. He is currently going to school at UK majoring in Pharmacy. $72.00 per month for a ½ lesson once a week.

Teaches Guitar and Bass and Mandolin – He has been teaching basic principals in classical guitar, mandolin, and electric bass for beginning students and instructing individual advanced students in various guitar styles, including rock, folk, blues, and country for 20 years. He has 33 years of professional experience in performance and instruction and education and experience in music theory and studio recording. He has 7 years of education studying classical and jazz guitar under the direction of William Peters. He has also performed in master class with world renowned classical guitarist and instructor Oscar Ghiglia at Temple University in March 1985. $20 per ½ hour lesson.

She teaches mostly by reading music notation, although she has also worked with several students playing by ear. She has been teaching for 8 years, preferring beginners of all ages, but may consider advanced students in some situations. Available Monday nights and Saturday mornings, also most weekday mornings. $56 per month for ½ hour lesson per week.

She has been a musician and vocalist for 27 years. She studied piano at the Charleston Conservatory of Music at the University of Charleston (WV). Kelly specializes in classical and gospel music. Kelly has performed at multiple venues in WV, KY, OH, PA, NC, VA, and TN. In addition to piano, she teaches vocal techniques (including Gaelic music) and plays multiple instruments including, percussion, guitar, mandolin, and flutes/whistles. Kelly has served as choir director and assistant choir director at churches in WV, was choreographer for Elkview Middle School Show choir, pianist for the University of Charleston Jazz Choir, and teaches Middle Eastern Dance. Kelly currently is a member of Black Oak Celtic music band. Available Monday and Tuesday. $18 for ½ hour lesson.
