Abigail VanSickle
On Saturday, February 20th, KMEA District 6 held their solo and ensemble contest for all junior high and high school students. The event was held at TurkeyFoot Middle School in Kenton County and we would like to thank Mrs. Jana Bromley for hosting the event this year and allowing Willis Music to provide the pianos.

Many students were very successful this year. There were many distinguished and proficient ratings! Our own Michele VanSickle, both Educational Rep and teacher had her daughter and students earn high ratings. Abigail VanSickle from Summit View Academy, earned a distinguished rating on her alto saxophone solo. Mia Minniti, a sixth grader playing clarinet from Ockerman Middle School, and Alana Olson, a sixth grader playing trumpet from Ockerman Middle School, performed solos at this competition. These students, who take lessons at Willis Music in Florence, earned distinguished ratings.

The judges gave very helpful comments to every student. They were each supportive, uplifting and provided advice to help them in the future. It was a pleasure to watch high school percussion ensembles participate in this experience as well.
We would like to thank all the judges for their time and for the time they gave each student, giving them assurance that all their practice does pay off.
